Local Movers Online started in 2008 in a cramped office off Howell Mill Road, with one truck, a borrowed dolly, and a founder who was sick of watching out-of-town brokers run roughshod over Atlanta families. That founder is Marcus Whitfield. He grew up on the east side — Kirkwood and East Atlanta, back when you could still find a parking spot on Flat Shoals — and he spent about nine years dispatching for moving outfits all over the metro before he hung his own shingle.
What pushed him to start his own company was simple. Day after day, he watched people in Buckhead, Decatur, and Marietta get a suspiciously low quote over the phone, hand over a deposit, and then wait around on moving day for a “carrier” that never showed — or showed up with a price that had quietly doubled. Those weren’t moving companies. They were brokers selling a job to whoever would take it. Marcus figured Atlanta deserved a crew that actually owns the trucks parked out back and signs the paychecks of the people carrying the couch.

We’re about fourteen people now — small enough that you’ll talk to the same folks from quote to delivery. Marcus still runs the place. Andre Bell is our crew chief on local jobs around the metro, and Derek leads our longer interstate runs out to Nashville, Charlotte, and beyond. Jenna handles quotes and walks you through your inventory, and Krista runs dispatch, which means she’s the one making sure the right crew and the right truck are at your door on time. We’re not the biggest moving company in Atlanta. We just think we’re the most honest one, and after this many years, plenty of repeat customers and their referrals seem to agree.
