A local move inside metro Atlanta sounds simple until you’re staring down a third-floor walk-up in Virginia-Highland, a one-lane street in Inman Park, or rush hour stacking up on the Downtown Connector. Local Movers Online has been doing exactly these moves out of Fulton County since 2008, and we do them with our own people. When you book us, owner Marcus Whitfield’s W-2 crew and our own trucks show up at your door — the same movers who pad-wrap your dresser carry it down your stairs and set it in the new place across town.

Every in-town move comes with one flat-rate written quote, locked before move day by Jenna in our office. That price covers the truck, the crew, the moving blankets, the shrink-wrap, the dollies, and the drive time. You’re never watching a meter while two movers take a smoke break in your driveway, and a backed-up elevator in a Midtown tower won’t add a dime. Most one- to three-bedroom Atlanta moves wrap inside a single day.

We Know Atlanta Traffic and Atlanta Streets

Walk-through with the homeowner
Walk-through with the homeowner

Timing a move here is its own skill. I-285 — the Perimeter — and the I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector turn into a parking lot twice a day, and GA-400 north toward Sandy Springs and Alpharetta isn’t far behind. We schedule loading windows around it. We know which Decatur and Kirkwood bungalow blocks are too tight for a 26-footer, which Buckhead and Midtown buildings demand a reserved freight elevator, and where to stage the truck in the cramped streets of Cabbagetown and the Old Fourth Ward. We bring the right truck and the right crew size the first time.

A Real Crew, Not Day Labor

Our crew, our trucks

  • Marcus or Krista picks up the phone — no call center
  • Written flat-rate quote = exactly what you pay at delivery
  • Same crew loads and unloads, every move
  • $1M cargo coverage, COI same-day for buildings
  • Claims handled in-house — Marcus signs off personally

× Broker chain

  • Call center routes you, your number gets sold
  • Quote rebilled at delivery for “extras”
  • Different unknown carrier per trip
  • Generic certificate, COI is a fight
  • “Not our crew” runaround on damage claims

Our movers are our employees — W-2, uniformed, trained on protecting hardwoods, tight stairwells, and historic-home doorways. Crew chief Andre Bell runs the local jobs. We carry our GA HHG registration plus US DOT and MC authority and full insurance, with $1M cargo coverage on every move and optional Full Value Protection if you want full replacement value. Anything that needs to come apart — beds, sectionals, wall units — our crew breaks down and rebuilds on the other end.

Here’s what every local Atlanta job includes:

  • A flat, binding written price — no hourly surprises
  • Our own clean, fleet-maintained trucks sized to your home
  • Free pads, shrink-wrap, dollies, and floor protection
  • Disassembly and reassembly of furniture at both ends
  • A 30-minute to one-hour arrival window, confirmed the day before

From a Midtown studio to a four-bedroom in Brookhaven, you deal with Local Movers Online from the first call to the last box. Call Jenna at (888) 711-4778 for your flat quote.

I highly recommend Local Movers Online. I had to move my father from one assisted living facility to another. Mike and Pervis showed up and without hesitation moved his items down a hallway, down an elevator and down another hallway out a service entrance in 45 minutes. I was totally impressed. The entire move from Decatur to Marietta including travel was completed in 2 hours which was less than I expected. There was also an error in the charge to my charge card which Brittany in customer service promptly handled. Shelby was great too in arranging this move in a very short notice. Thanks again and highly recommend this mover.

Service FAQs

Common questions for this kind of move

How much does a local move in Atlanta actually cost?
We price metro Atlanta moves as a flat, binding number, not an open-ended hourly tab. As a working guide: a studio or one-bedroom runs about $450–$700, a two-bedroom $700–$1,100, a three-bedroom $1,100–$1,800, and a four-bedroom house $1,700–$2,600 depending on access, stairs, and how much you're taking. Jenna locks the exact figure in writing before move day, so the number you're quoted is the number you pay.
Do you charge by the hour or a flat rate?
Flat rate. After a quick walkthrough or a room-by-room rundown over the phone, we give you one written price that covers the truck, Andre's crew, the pads, the wrap, and the drive time. You won't watch a clock run while movers take a break, and a slow elevator in a Midtown high-rise won't cost you extra — the price is the price.
Can you do a same-day or next-day move in Atlanta?
Often, yes, especially mid-week and outside the end-of-month rush. Atlanta apartment leases turn over heavily on the 1st and 31st, so those Saturdays book out a week or two ahead. Call (888) 711-4778 and if Andre's crew has an open slot, we'll get you a flat quote and put you on the schedule the same day.
My building in Buckhead has a tight loading dock and a freight elevator. Can you handle that?
Absolutely — that's standard for us. We move in and out of the Buckhead, Midtown, and Old Fourth Ward high-rise corridors constantly. We reserve the freight elevator window with your building, lay down elevator and hallway protection, and staff the crew to work fast inside the reserved slot so management has nothing to flag.
Are tips expected for the crew?
Tipping is always optional and never built into your quote. If Andre's crew did right by you, customers around Atlanta commonly tip $20–$40 per mover for a local job, or 10–15% of the move total — but it's entirely up to you. The flat price you signed covers the work in full either way.
Who do I call if I have a question about a line on my quote?
Jenna in our office handles every quote and booking, so you talk to a real person, not a call center. If anything on your written estimate isn't clear — a stair charge, a bulky-item note, the arrival window — call (888) 711-4778 and she'll walk you through it line by line before you ever commit.
